Lifting a car with a jack (VW Golf 2)

For design reasons, a car jack, as well as a garage lift, can only be installed on the side of the body. When lifting the front of the car, the jack should be placed under the threshold reinforcement (figure 3), apply the parking brake and place chocks under the wheels for safety.



When raising the rear of the car, you need to place the jack between the cross member of the body floor and the rear axle support mount (figure 4). Shift the transmission into gear and place wedges under the wheel located diagonally to the one being removed on the other side of the vehicle. Place the vehicle on strong stands.

Caution! Never place a jack under the oil pan, gearbox housing or rear axle beam, as this may cause serious damage to these components.
