Correct lifting of the car (VW Sharan 1)

The car is lifted using a jack from the driver's tool kit, a garage jack or a stationary lift at a service station. The jack installation locations on each side of the body have corresponding reinforced landing places. To lift the front part of the car, the jack should be installed under the reinforced landing place (Fig. 7).

Before raising the vehicle, apply the parking brake and place chocks under the front and rear wheels on the opposite side of the vehicle.

When using a garage jack or lift, use the same lifting points on the vehicle body.

Be sure to make sure that the ground under the jack or supports is firm enough, and the supports will not sink into the ground under the weight of the car. To avoid this, you can put a wide board under the heel of the jack or under the wheels of the garage jack, which will not allow them to sink into the ground.

Caution! Never use the jack to lift the vehicle against the oil pan, gearbox, subframe or rear axle.

Before lifting the rear end of the vehicle, put it in reverse gear on the manual transmission or set the selector lever to the "P" parking position on the automatic transmission.





Three-legged support stands (Fig. 8) can only be installed under the side of the car body, but they should be used with caution, taking all measures to avoid damaging the car body.



It should be noted that the pin used to adjust the height of the supports is quite strong, so do not use other parts, such as bolts, instead. Special stands (Fig. 9) for wheels or a repair ramp are also designed for carrying out repair work under the bottom of the car.

When driving onto special stands, make sure that they are located exactly in front of the wheels to ensure that the car is moving in the correct direction when driving. For additional safety, such stands often have recesses for the car's wheels. It is important to remember that the Sharan is higher than a regular passenger car, so it is less stable.
