This five-door mini-van can be used as a business and road trip for a group of seven people. Its interior is spacious, and the rear seats, if necessary, are removed one at a time, forming a roomy cargo compartment.
Sharan and Galaxy cars look almost the same, their main external differences are the radiator grille and branding.
Sharan is available in three versions - CL, GL and Carat. Cars of this release have front-wheel drive and are equipped with gasoline engines of two modifications (2.0 l and 2.8 l) or diesel, five-speed manual transmission or four-speed automatic transmission made by Volkswagen. The two-liter 4-cylinder engine was serially installed on the base CL modification. Modifications GL and Carat are equipped either with the same engine, or equipped with the already known 2.8-liter VR6 engine. In addition, an all-wheel drive Sharan Synchro modification was also produced, also equipped with a VR6 engine with automatic distribution of traction to the front and rear axle wheels, in accordance with emerging road conditions.
2 liter engine naturally aspirated, similar to the Golf GTI engine, which has been slightly modified to produce high torque at low revs (170 Nm at 2400 min–1), with Simos electronic fuel injection and ignition control system. It was officially stated that with a manual transmission the car accelerates to 100 km / h in 15.4 seconds and in 17.2 seconds with an automatic transmission, but in reality these figures are approximately 13 and 14 seconds, respectively. Top speed is 177 km/h with manual transmission and 172 km/h with automatic transmission.
VR6 engine - proven 6-cylinder engine with 174 hp equipped with an electronic control system and fuel injection «Bosch Motronic M 3.8.1.» from golf. This modification with a manual transmission accelerated in 11.8 seconds to 100 km / h and in 13.2 seconds with an automatic transmission. In accordance with the factory data, the maximum speed was 200 km / h - with a manual transmission and 195 km / h - with an automatic transmission.
The independent suspension of Sharan and Galaxy originates from the suspension of the VW Passat. The front and rear suspensions are mounted on subframes, which are attached to the body by means of special rubber mounts, thereby virtually eliminating the transmission of noise to the passenger compartment.
The front suspension consists of a lower wishbone and a suspension strut with long travel springs and telescopic gas-filled shock absorbers. The design of the front suspension includes an anti-roll bar, which reduces the lateral roll of the car when cornering.
The rear suspension consists of a diagonal arm, a coil spring, gas-filled shock absorbers and an anti-roll bar.
The brake system consists of two hydraulic circuits acting diagonally, with hydraulic booster. All Sharan modifications are equipped with ATE disc brakes on all four wheels and an anti-lock system (ABS) by Teves.
The rack and pinion steering is hydraulically boosted as standard, and the steering column is infinitely adjustable in length and height. Despite the considerable length (4.64 m) Sharan has a turning diameter of 11.7 m.
The car is equipped with an anti-theft system that is automatically activated when the ignition is turned off. The anti-theft system is deactivated when a coded key is inserted into the ignition lock, thanks to a chip located in the key head.
