Remove the positive cable, then the cable going to ground.
Before charging, check the acid level, top up with distilled water if necessary.
Let the frozen battery thaw.
Unscrew the plugs from the battery and put them on the holes. This prevents the harmful effect on the varnish of gases arising during charging.
Charge the battery only in a well-ventilated area. When charging in the installed state, open the engine hood.
In normal charging, the charging current is about 10% capacity (those. with a battery with a capacity of 45 Ah, the current is 4.5 A).
Connect the positive pole of the battery to the positive pole and the negative pole to the negative pole of the charger.
The acid temperature during charging should not exceed 55 degrees C, if necessary, interrupt charging or reduce the charging current.
Charge until intense gas formation stops and, when measured 1 hour apart, the specific gravity of the acid and the voltage no longer increase.
The battery can also be charged with a fast charger.
Attention! Fast battery charging should not become a habit! Batteries that have not been used for a long time, as well as new batteries, must not be fast-charged.
After charging, check the acid level, top up with distilled water if necessary.
Check acid concentration. If the value in one of the elements is significantly different from the value in the other elements (for example, 5 elements show 1.26 and one element (— 1,18), the battery is defective and must be replaced.
Leave the battery open for about 20 minutes to release gases, then tighten the plugs.
Attention! The engine must not be running with the battery connected, otherwise the electrical system will be damaged.
