The headlights are adjusted by turning the adjusting screws, which turn the optical element in the vertical and horizontal planes. At the service station, the headlights are precisely adjusted using a special measuring device, and only in case of extreme necessity can you make a rough adjustment yourself.

Perform rough adjustment of the headlights in the following order:
  • place a fully fueled and equipped vehicle on a flat horizontal surface 5 m from a smooth wall or any screen so that the vehicle's axis is perpendicular to it;
  • make sure your tire pressure is correct;
  • rock the car from the side to install the suspension springs;
  • measure the distance between the ground and the centers of the headlights. Mark these points on the wall and draw a straight line through them;
  • draw a second line on the wall, 5 cm below the first;
  • draw a vertical line on the wall exactly in the center of the car;
  • measure the distance between the center of the car and the centers of the headlights (right and left). Mark this distance from the vertical line to the right and left on the wall with crosses on the first straight line (upper);
  • exactly 5 cm under these crosses (on the lower straight line) the bending points of the low beam headlights must be located. (If this is the case, then there is no need to perform rough adjustment);
  • make sure the headlights are in the home position (on the switch "0");
  • sequentially, first for the right headlight (the left one is covered with a piece of cloth or dark matter), and then for the left (the right one is closed) adjust the headlight beams with screws;
  • access to the adjusting screws is opened from the engine compartment;
  • turn on the ignition and low beam headlights;
  • vertical sweep adjustment screw (on the outside of the headlight) set the lower limit of the low beam to the lower horizontal line;
  • horizontal sweep adjustment screw (on the inside of the headlight) set the bend point of the low beam border to the corresponding cross;
  • at the same time, the correct adjustment of the high beam headlights is achieved automatically.

However, have your headlights precisely adjusted at a service station as soon as possible.

Helpful advice

Immediately after precise adjustment of headlights at the service station (using a special device), mark the beam pattern of the adjusted headlights on your garage door by accurately placing the car five meters away from the garage door so that the axis of the car is perpendicular to it. The distance must be measured accurately, not estimated by eye. Turn on the high beams and mark the centers of the beams of both headlights with crosses on the garage door.

Now, when performing a rough adjustment of the headlights, you can use the marks you made. You should park the car in the same position in front of the garage door and check whether the centers of the headlight beams match the marks you made earlier, and adjust them if necessary.
