Headlights — General Information (VW Sharan 1)

The Sharan uses various halogen lamps as light sources, which have, compared to conventional lamps, greater light output and an increased service life. The main parts of the headlight are incandescent lamps, a reflector and a diffuser. The reflector is coated from the inside with a special heat-resistant varnish, on which a thin layer of aluminum is applied, creating a mirror-like reflective surface. The reflector is a parabolic mirror that reflects and focuses light. The diffuser is made of special glass and has cylindrical lenses, prisms and parallel planes on the inside, which deflect the light reflected by the reflector in the required direction. In addition, each headlight has a stepper motor, which, when the flywheel rotates, (located to the left of the steering wheel) adjusts the optical axis of the headlights.
