Rear axle maintenance (VW Lt 28)

1. At regular intervals specified in "Maintenance schedule" at the beginning of this manual, remove the oil filler/level plug from the rear axle housing and check the oil level. If necessary, add oil of the appropriate type until the level is level with the bottom edge of the hole. (The car must be on a level surface).

2. Although the rear axle is filled for life, it is recommended to change the oil periodically at the intervals specified in "Maintenance schedule", to slow down the natural processes of destruction of additives and additives in the oil, and to prevent a large accumulation of metal particles that will form as a result of friction from the contacts of the teeth and contaminate the oil, despite the integral magnet.

3. Both oil drain and fill/level holes are fitted with bolt-type plugs. Drain the oil while it is hot and clean any deposits from the plug magnet before reinstalling it.

4. Keep the ventilation hole of the casing clean, check it with a wire after removing the rubber cap (see photo 2.4).
