  • Description of the gearbox design
            0

The gearbox and final drive form a single unit. The unit can only be removed after the engine has been removed. As a rule, removal of the gearbox is only necessary when replacing or overhauling the gearbox and final drive. This type of repair is not recommended for home use. Therefore, we will limit ourselves to just a description of the removal and installation of the box.

The vehicle described, depending on the variant, has a rear axle either with independent wheel suspension or a structurally different rear axle with a diagonal balance beam.

VW Kafer cars with independent rear wheel suspension: 1200/34 hp, 1300/40 hp, 1300/44 hp, 1500/44 hp, 1600/50 hp.

VW Kafer vehicles with a rear axle with a diagonal balance beam: 1302 S/44 hp, 1302/50 hp, 1303/44 hp, 1303 S/50 hp, all variants with automatic transmission and Cabrio 1600/50 hp.
