The fan shroud can be removed without removing the engine. But to remove the casing, you first need to remove the engine protective cover, and this is easier to do with the engine removed.

Disconnect the ground wire from the battery.

Remove the air filter, disconnect the heating and ventilation system hoses.

Disconnect the rod from the carburetor and remove the guide tube.

Remove the carburetor (see section "Removal and installation the carburetor").

Remove the V-belt (see section "Removal, installation and tensioning the generator drive V-belt").

Remove the band clamp from the generator.

When adjusting with the throttle ring: remove the return spring and loosen the 2 bolts on the throttle ring.

Remove the slotted bolts on both sides of the fan shroud.

Remove the slotted bolts on both sides of the fan shroud.

For Kafer 1300/1600 vehicles: remove the oil radiator air bleed shield.

Remove the fan casing together with the adjustment device and the generator by lifting it upwards, without damaging the oil radiator.

Installation

When lowering the casing, insert the thermostat connecting rod into the opening in the cylinder head. Make sure that the side surfaces of the cylinders are tightly covered by the casing. If necessary, carefully straighten the protective covers.

When adjusting with a throttle ring, install the throttle ring, center it relative to the intake manifold, attach it to the support sheet stamping and install the return spring.

Install the thermostat.

Insert the guide, connect the rod to the carburetor, install the carburetor, secure the rod.

Secure the generator with a band clamp, install and tighten the V-belt.

Connect the electrical wires to the generator and ignition coil.
