Follow safety and cleanliness rules, see the relevant chapter.

Safety note: There is a risk of accident when lifting the vehicle! Please read the section "Lifting a car".

Raise the car.

Raise the car.

Place a container under the fuel filter "1" to collect the leaking fuel. The fuel filter is located at the bottom of the body next to the fuel tank.

Safety instructions: The fuel supply line is under pressure! Before releasing the hose, place a thick clean cloth around the connection. Put on safety glasses and only then release the fuel pressure by carefully releasing the connection.

Disconnect fuel lines "2", "3" and "4" by pressing the locking buttons on the corresponding quick-release couplings. Note: a car with a gasoline engine with direct injection does not have a return fuel line and a fuel pressure regulator on the fuel filter. Here, the return fuel line from the high-pressure pump goes to the fuel tank.

Loosen, but do not unscrew, screw "5" of the mounting clamp.

Remove the fuel filter and drain the fuel in it into a container.

Installation

Insert the fuel filter into the clamp so that the arrow on the filter points in the direction of fluid flow, i.e. from the fuel tank to the engine.

[The information is available on the website: VWmanual.ru]

Tighten the fuel filter clamp screw to a torque of 5 Nm.

Connect and secure the fuel hoses. Be careful not to mix up the black fuel supply line "4" with the blue return fuel line "3".

Note: The fuel return line is connected to the fuel pressure regulator.

Lower the car.

Caution: If the engine does not start after replacing the fuel filter, it is necessary to remove air from the fuel system through the air lock on the fuel manifold.
