The steering column switches combine the following switches: low beam, high beam, windshield wiper system.
Removal
With the ignition off, disconnect the ground (-) cable from the battery.
Attention: Follow the instructions given in the chapter "Removal and installation the battery".
Safety instructions
Strictly follow the instructions regarding inflatable airbag.
Remove from steering wheel airbag assembly.
Remove the steering wheel.
In the places of the recesses, unfasten the upper steering column trim and pull it out of the clamps with an upward movement. Fold the trim forward.
Move the steering wheel adjustment lever forward and unscrew the screw at the bottom of the trim.
Using a screwdriver, unscrew the two upper screws and remove the lower steering column trim.
Using a screwdriver, unhook the locking hooks of the "arrow" and remove the return ring from the steering shaft together with the contact spiral.
POLO: unscrew the "arrow" screw on the steering column switch, remove the steering column switch from the contact housing and remove it.
IBIZA: loosen screw "1" of the clamp so that the steering column switch can be easily moved. Pull the connector bolt up "arrow" and disconnect the connector at the steering column. Remove the steering column switch.
Installation
Installation is carried out in the reverse order. Make sure that the retaining plates of the lining are not damaged.
IBIZA: Make sure that the plug connector of the steering column switch is connected correctly and without distortion.
