Fit a new snap ring to the drive shaft using a VW 161 A snap ring collet.
Install a new cover on the inner hinge.
Install the VAG 1682 collet as shown in Figure 3.185.
When doing this, make sure that the collet blades are in contact with corners B of the collar.
Tighten the clamp by turning the screw with a torque wrench (in this case, the distortion of the collet is not allowed).
NOTE: Due to hard (compared to rubber) boot material requiring the use of a stainless steel clamp, the clamp can only be tightened with a VAG 1682 collet.
Tightening torque: 25 Nm.
Use a torque wrench with an adjustment range of 5-50 Nm (e.g. torque wrench VAG 1331).
Make sure that the thread of screw A of the collet turns easily. Lubricate with MOS 2 grease if necessary.
If rotation is difficult, for example due to thread contamination, at a given tightening torque, the clamping force of the clamp will be less than necessary.
