General provisions
The tire pressure monitor is part of the software of the ABS control unit -J104-. The system serves to recognize slow (gradual) reducing tire pressure. Faults relating to the tire pressure monitor are stored in the fault memory of the ABS control unit -J104- The system compares the wheel speeds with each other (derived from ABS wheel sensors) and thus estimates the length of the path traveled by the wheel in 1 revolution. With the ignition switched on, press the button for the tire pressure indicator -E492- and hold it down until a confirmation tone sounds after carrying out the following work/changing the following parameters: changing the tire pressure, changing one or more wheels, changing wheels, e.g. - forward. The tire pressure warning light -K220- in the instrument cluster switches on when the wheel travel per revolution changes. The path traveled by a wheel in 1 revolution can change due to the following reasons: low tire pressure, damage to the tire cord, uneven vehicle loading, increased load on one of the axles, for example, when driving with a trailer, use of snow chains, installation of a spare wheel, replacement of a wheel.
Errors recorded by the ABS system
If a malfunction occurs in the ABS system, the ESP and TCS warning light -K155- or TCS warning light -K86- comes on. The tire pressure warning lamp -K220- -arrow- also lights up. However, errors relating to the tire pressure monitoring indicator are not in the fault memory.
