Removal and installation window lifters (VW Beetle)

Removal

Remove the door trim.

Remove 4 hex bolts on the window regulator. Move the glass up. Remove 5 hex bolts and the window hex bolt on the inner door trim.



Press the window regulator against the outer door trim and pull it down. Lower the door glass, tilt it slightly and remove it from the door.



If necessary, remove the decorative strips of the door window together with the rubber seals. Press out the decorative strip clips from below. Remove the rubber seal from the inner door trim. Remove the rear glass guides upwards from the window shaft. The glass guide bar can be pulled out downwards after loosening the hex bolt on the installation post.





Loosen the Phillips head screw on the top strip of the door window and the hex bolt in the area of the window lift mechanism on the inner door trim, remove the front window guide strip with the window frame.

Installation

Check window guide strips, window guides and holder clamps, replace if necessary. The rear guide is supplied as a straight, finished piece. Before installation, it must be bent accordingly and clamped in the clamps of the holder and the rear guide bar.

Caution! If the window regulator bar has been detached from the window glass, it must be reinstalled at a distance of approximately 80 mm (dimension "a") from the straight guide side, as shown in the figure.

Before installation, lightly lubricate the window lift cable with a universal grease. Ensure that the shock absorber strips are securely seated in the door and that the holes at the bottom of the door are clean.


Install and secure the front window guide strip to the vent frame. Insert the window glass into the guides from below and move it upward. Install the window regulator and secure it to the inner door panel.
Important! If the window regulator cannot be moved to the front window guide, you will need to slightly raise the window.

Move the window glass down and loosely attach the window regulator bar to the window regulator on the right and left. Open and close the window several times, and then tighten the hex bolts of the bar securely.



Glue the PVC film to the inner door panel with universal glue. Install the door trim.
