Required special tool:
Key for spark plugs, for example. HAZET 4766-1.
Required replacement parts:
Depending on the engine 3 or 4 spark plugs. Stock spark plugs shown on here.
Removing
Caution: Change spark plugs only when the engine is cold or warm to the touch. If the spark plugs are removed when the engine is hot, the spark plug threads in the light alloy cylinder head may be stripped.
Loosen the engine cover and remove towards the top.
1.4 l petrol engine, AUA/AUB: Unscrew cap -1-.
1.4 l petrol engine, AUA/AUB: Remove the high voltage wires -2- from the cover -3- and pull the cover up a little. Remove spark plug caps.
1.4 l petrol engine, BBY/BBZ/AXU and 1.2 l engine: Carefully pull the ignition coils together with the spark plug tips -arrows- until the tips disengage from the ignition coils. Remove the tips and remove the ignition coils.
Attention. The ignition coils sit very firmly and can hardly be removed without a special puller. At the service station, a VW / SEAT-T10094 puller is used to remove the ignition coils, and a VW / SEAT-T10118 hook is used to remove the spark plug tips.
Unscrew the spark plugs with a spark plug wrench, eg HAZET4766-1.
Installation
Carefully screw the spark plugs into the cylinder head and tighten to 30 Nm.
Further installation is carried out in the reverse order.
