Petrol engine with a displacement of 1.4 liters
Special tool: not required.
Necessary replacement parts:
If necessary, a toothed belt.
Examination
Release the clamps of the upper timing belt cover and remove the cover.
Visually inspect the toothed belt for the following damage.

- Cracks "A", destruction in cross-sections from the back side.
- Development of the side surface "B" of the toothed belt.
- Destruction, fringing of C-cord threads.
- "D" cracks at the base of the belt teeth.
- Longitudinal delamination of the toothed belt/cord threads
- Traces of oil and grease.
A damaged toothed belt must be replaced, see section "Engine".
Install the upper belt cover and secure with clamps.
