Petrol engine with a displacement of 1.4 liters



Special tool: not required.

Necessary replacement parts:



If necessary, a toothed belt.

Examination



Release the clamps of the upper timing belt cover and remove the cover.

Release the clamps of the upper timing belt cover and remove the cover.


Visually inspect the toothed belt for the following damage.

  • Cracks "A", destruction in cross-sections from the back side.
  • Development of the side surface "B" of the toothed belt.
  • Destruction, fringing of C-cord threads.
  • "D" cracks at the base of the belt teeth.
  • Longitudinal delamination of the toothed belt/cord threads
  • Traces of oil and grease.

A damaged toothed belt must be replaced, see section "Engine".

Install the upper belt cover and secure with clamps.
