When the ignition is turned on, the system checks the serviceability of the systems and sensors. This process takes several seconds. During this time, some indicators on the instrument panel light up and go out when the check is complete. If the indicator lights up and then goes out, then the corresponding system is in good working order.
If one of the light indicators on the instrument panel lights up or starts flashing while driving or the engine is running, this means that the corresponding system is not working properly. Some indicators duplicate the light signal with an audible one. If the indicator is triggered, you must stop driving, find out and eliminate the cause of the malfunction. In difficult cases, contact a WV service station.
1. Rear fog light
The indicator lights up when the rear fog light is switched on.
2. Generator
The indicator lights up when the ignition is turned on and should go out when the engine starts.
The generator is driven by a belt from the crankshaft pulley. If the generator indicator lights up while the car is moving, you can continue driving to the nearest service station. Most often, the drive belt is to blame for the malfunction.
As the battery continues to discharge, all electrical consumers except those absolutely necessary must be disconnected.
3. Fog lights
The indicator lights up when the front fog lights are turned on.
4. Power steering
The indicator lights up when the ignition is turned on and should go out when the engine starts. The indicator lights up when the car is moving if the power steering is faulty.
5. Glow plugs (for diesel engines only)
If the indicator lights up immediately when you turn on the ignition, do not start the engine.
6. Engine control (petrol engines only)
The indicator lights up when the ignition is turned on and should go out when the engine starts.
The indicator informs about any malfunction in the engine management system while driving. When the signal appears, you should contact the service station as soon as possible.
7. Turn signals
Depending on which direction of turn is engaged, the right or left arrow will flash in sync with the vehicle's turn signals. If the turn signal circuit is faulty, the arrow will flash twice as fast as normal.
8. High beam headlights
The indicator lights up when the high beam headlights are turned on.
9. "Cruise control" system
The indicator lights up when the cruise control mode is turned on. Not all models have this mode.
10. The back of the rear seat is not secured
This indicator is only available on models with a rear center seat belt. The indicator illuminates for approximately 20 seconds after the ignition is turned on if the rear center seatback is not properly secured. If the seatback becomes detached while the vehicle is moving, the indicator will illuminate continuously.
11. Motion stabilization program
The indicator lights up when the ignition is turned on and should go out after about two seconds. When the driving stability program is on, the indicator flashes. If the system is turned off or faulty, the indicator lights up continuously.
Since the stability control system works together with the ABS and differential lock, if these systems are faulty, the stability control indicator will also come on.
12. Anti-lock braking system (ABS)
The indicator comes on when the ignition is turned on and should go out after a few seconds when the system check cycle is complete.
If the indicator does not light up after the ignition is turned on, or does not go out, or lights up while driving, then the ABS system is faulty. A system malfunction is displayed as follows.
The ABS indicator light is on
The normal braking system works and the car can be stopped without ABS. In this case, you should consult a qualified specialist as soon as possible.
The ABS indicator lights up together with the brake system indicator
This means that not only the ABS is faulty, but the entire braking system. Changes in braking characteristics are possible. The indicator display shows the following message: "STOP! BRAKE FAULT" (Stop! The brakes are faulty).
Warning! If both indicators light up, stop the vehicle immediately and check the brake fluid level. If the level drops below the MIN mark, do not continue driving, consult an experienced specialist.
If the brake fluid level is within the acceptable range, the ABS may be faulty. If the ABS function is impaired, the rear wheels may quickly lock up when braking, causing the vehicle to skid. Proceed with caution and repair the fault as soon as possible.
13. The brake system is faulty. The parking brake is engaged
On vehicles equipped with ABS, the indicator lights up for a few seconds after the ignition is turned on.
While driving, the indicator lights up in the following cases:
- The parking brake is engaged. The indicator is accompanied by an audible signal if the car is moving at a speed greater than 6 km/h. The message appears on the indicator display "HANDBRAKE ON" (parking brake engaged).
- The brake fluid level has dropped below the permissible limit. The indicator display shows the message "STOP! BRAKE FAULT" (Stop! The brakes are faulty).
Warning! If the indicator does not go out after the parking brake is released, or lights up while the vehicle is moving, then most likely the brake fluid level in the reservoir has dropped below the permissible level. Stop the vehicle, stop driving and consult a specialist.
If the ABS indicator lights up along with the brake warning light, the anti-lock function may be impaired. In this case, the rear wheels may quickly lock up when braking, causing the vehicle to skid. Proceed with extreme caution and repair the fault as soon as possible.
14. Airbag system
After the ignition is turned on, the indicator lights up for a few seconds. If the indicator flashes for about 12 seconds, then at least one airbag is deactivated. If the indicator does not go out or lights up or flashes while driving, then the airbag system is faulty. The indicator display shows the message "AIR BAG FAULT" (the airbags are faulty). Take your car to a service station as soon as possible.
15. Seat belts
The indicator comes on after the ignition is turned on for about 6 seconds as a reminder to fasten the seat belt. If the belt is not fastened, a chime sounds and continues to sound until the belt is fastened.

16. Trailer turn signals
When the trailer turn signals are turned on, they also start to flash. To check the trailer turn signals are working properly, there is a signaling device on the dashboard that also starts to flash. If the signaling device does not flash, then there is some kind of malfunction with the turn signals.
17. Coolant temperature/level
The indicator lights up when the ignition is turned on and remains on for a few seconds, then goes out.
If the indicator does not go out or lights up while driving, it means that there is something wrong with the cooling system - either the engine has overheated or the coolant level has dropped. In addition to the light signal, the buzzer will sound three times. If this happens, stop the engine and check the fluid level. Top up if necessary.
The indicator display shows a message "STOP! CHECK COOLANT" (Stop! Check the coolant).
If the fluid level has not dropped, the cooling system fan may be faulty. Check the fan fuse.
If the fluid level and fan fuse are normal, but the indicator does not go out, do not use the car, consult a specialist.
18. Engine oil pressure/level
When the ignition is turned on, the indicator lights up for a few seconds and then goes out. If the indicator does not go out, an additional sound signal will sound three times. Do not start the engine. Check the oil level and top up if necessary.
The indicator light is flashing red (low oil pressure)
If the indicator starts to flash while driving, the horn sounds three times if the engine speed is above 1500 rpm. Stop, turn off the engine and check the oil level. If the oil level is normal and the indicator continues to flash, stop driving - consult a specialist.
The indicator display shows a message "STOP! ENGINE OIL PRESSURE LOW" (Stop! Low engine oil pressure).
The indicator lights up yellow (low oil level)
Check the oil level again and top up if necessary. Make it a rule to check the oil level every time you fill the tank with fuel. The indicator display shows the message "CHECK OIL LEVEL" (check the oil level). The warning will disappear if the hood has been open for more than 30 seconds. However, if the oil level remains the same, the warning will reappear after 100 km.
The indicator light is flashing yellow (the oil level measuring device is faulty)
If the oil level measuring device is faulty, the indicator will start flashing and a beep will sound. The engine should be checked at a service station as soon as possible.
The indicator display shows a message "OIL SENSOR WORKSHOP!" (check the oil sensor at the service station).
19. The door is open
If all doors are closed, the display disappears.
20. Immobilizer
When the ignition is turned on, the indicator lights up for about three seconds. During this time, the key is recognized. The engine can be started if the ignition key is recognized as "your own". In this case, the anti-theft system is disabled.
If the key is not recognized, the indicator starts flashing continuously. The engine will not start and the car cannot be used.
The indicator display shows a message "IMMOBIL. ACTIVATED" (immobilizer activated).
21. Washer fluid
The indicator lights up when the washer fluid level becomes too low. Add fluid to the washer reservoir. The indicator display shows the message "TOP UP WASHER WATER".
22. The trunk is open
The indicator lights up when the trunk or tailgate is open. The indicator goes out when the trunk is closed.
23. Wear of brake linings
The indicator lights up when the brake pad wear limit has been reached. Check and replace the pads.
The indicator display shows a message "CHECK BRAKE PADS/ LININGS" (check brake pads/pads).
24. Low fuel level
The indicator lights up when there are approximately 7 liters of fuel left in the tank.
The indicator display shows the message "FILL TANK" (fill the tank).
25. Exhaust composition outside the norm
Flashing: Possible cause: damaged catalytic converter.
Lights up: possible cause is a malfunction that has caused a deterioration in the composition of exhaust gases (for example, a faulty oxygen sensor).
Drive carefully to the service station and have the engine checked.
The indicator display shows a message "EMISSION WORKSHOP" (check the exhaust at a service station).
