Checking the level of working fluid in the automatic transmission (VW Golf 1)
Before checking the level, start the engine with the gearbox lever in position "P" and let it idle for 5 minutes. Then pull the dipstick out of the gearbox housing (on the left side), wipe it with a napkin, insert it and pull it out again. The working fluid level should be between the marks on the dipstick.
