Removal and installation the V-belt of the cooling pump, tensioning the belt (VW Transporter T3)

Dismantling

Remove the 3 bolts on the cooling pump belt pulley. Remove the pulley halves and the V-belt. To prevent the pulley from rotating when loosening the bolts, insert and secure a screwdriver between the two bolts.

Count and mark the spacer washers between the pulley halves.

Remove the V-belt.

Installation

Apply the V-belt.

Place the same number of spacers between the pulley halves and screw the front half on. Be careful not to pinch the belt when screwing it on.

Check the belt tension by hand. The deflection in the middle should be 5-10 mm.

To tension the belt, remove the spacer washers between the pulley halves and place them under the mounting bolts at the front.

If the belt is too tight, place spacer washers between the pulley halves.
