Checking the regulator valve (VW Transporter T3)

If the regulator valve does not open, the engine may overheat. If the thermostat is constantly open, the engine cannot reach its operating temperature.

Drain the coolant.

Remove the regulator and heat it in hot water.

Monitor the water temperature with a thermometer.

The regulator opening temperature is about 85-105 degrees, the stroke is at least 7 mm.



(19-003) Before heating the regulator, measure the dimension "a".

After heating the regulator to approximately 100 degrees C, dimension "b" should be at least 7 mm larger than dimension "a".
