Maintenance plan (diesel, production up to 8.85) (VW Transporter T3)

Care

Maintenance is performed 7500 km after the last maintenance, so, at a mileage of 22500, 37500 km, etc. Under difficult operating conditions (mainly short-haul transportation, urban traffic, frequent travel in mountainous areas, on dusty roads or with a trailer) maintenance should be carried out every 5000 km.

• engine: change oil and filter.
• fuel filter: remove water.
• disc brake pads: check thickness.

Models up to 8.81:

• cooling system: check the water level, top up if necessary.
• brake system: check the brake fluid level.

Maintenance

Maintenance is performed every 15,000 km according to points without designation and every 30,000 km according to points designated by "=".

Engine

• engine: Change oil and oil filter.
• cooling and heating system: check the fluid level, antifreeze concentration. Visually check the radiator for leaks and cleanliness.
• exhaust system: check for damage.
• engine: visual inspection for leaks in the oil system.
• idle speed: check and adjust if necessary.
• remove water from the fuel filter.
• clutch mechanics: check clearance, adjust if necessary.
• clutch hydraulics: check hoses and lines for leaks.
• v-belts: check the tension and condition of all belts.

Front axle and steering

• tie rod ends: check clearance and fastening, check protective caps.
• axle joints: check clearance and protective caps.
• steering: check for play, check bellows for leaks and damage.
• servo control: check the fluid level, add hydraulic oil if necessary.

Body

• lubricate the hinges and stoppers with universal grease.
• clean the sliding door, side wall rail and lubricate the roller conveyor with universal grease.
• check the floor covering and hollow spaces.
• seat belts: check for damage.
• retractable roof: clean gutters.

Brakes, tires, wheels

• brake system: check pipelines, hoses, brake cylinders and joints for leaks and damage.
• brake fluid level: check, top up if necessary.
• disc brakes: check the thickness of the front and rear pads.
• set of tires: check the tread depth and tire pressure, tires (including spare wheel) check for wear and damage.

Electrical installation

• all consumers: check functionality.
• lighting system: check and adjust headlights if necessary.
• signaling installation: check the sound signal, light signaling.
• windscreen wiper: check the rubber tips for wear.
• windshield washer: check operation, check position of sprayers, add water, check headlight washers.
• battery: Check voltage and acid level.

Every 2 years

• =brake fluid: replace.

Additionally, at mileage of 45,000, 90,000 km, etc.

• =automatic transmission: change fluid.

Additionally, at mileage of 120,000, 240,000 km, etc.

• =replace the timing belt.
