Compression check (VW Lt 2d)

1. Disconnect the connector from the shut-off valve/fuel start valve on the fuel pump.

2. Disconnect the connector from the fuel quantity regulator on the fuel pump.

3. Disconnect the 2-pin connector from the coolant circulation thermal switch.

4. Disconnect the connectors from all glow plugs.

5. Remove all glow plugs.

6. Screw the VAG 1381/12 adapter into the glow plug hole (figure 3.28).

7. Check the compression using the VAG 1381 or VAG 1763 tester.

8. Rotate the engine crankshaft with the starter until the tester indicates compression pressure.

Compression of a new engine: 25-31 bar.
Permissible compression: 24 bar.
Permissible difference between cylinders: 5 bar.

Glow plug tightening torque: 15 Nm.
