Diesel engine 1.4-/1.9-I-PD-TDI
Removing
Drain the coolant see relevant chapter.
Remove toothed belt.
Release screws -1- and carefully remove coolant pump -2- from cylinder block.
Turn the pump shaft to check for ease of movement.
If the bearing is damaged or leaking, replace the coolant pump.
Installation
Moisten new O-ring -3- with coolant and insert.
Insert coolant pump into cylinder block and tighten bolts to 15 Nm.
Caution: The plug on the pump housing must be at the bottom.
Install toothed belt.
Fill in coolant see relevant chapter.
After a test drive, check the coolant pump for leaks.
1.9L SDI diesel engine
Removing
Drain the coolant see relevant chapter.
Remove poly V-belt.
Remove upper and middle toothed belt guards.
Take off toothed belt from the gears of the camshaft and coolant pump.
Note: Do not remove the toothed belt from the crankshaft gear. Do not remove the lower toothed belt cover and the crankshaft pulley either.
Caution: To protect against escaping coolant, cover the toothed belt under the coolant pump with a cloth.
Remove bolt -1- and remove guide roller -2-.
Remove 3 bolts -3- and carefully remove coolant pump -4-. Remove sealing ring -5-.
Installation
Thoroughly clean the surfaces under the O-ring -5-
Moisten a new O-ring with coolant and insert.
Insert coolant pump. Mounting position: The plug on the pump housing must be at the bottom.
Tighten the three pump mounting bolts to 15 Nm.
Screw guide roller -2- with new bolt -1-. Tighten the bolt to a torque of 40 Nm, then tighten it by 90°in the direction of tightening with a locked wrench (¼ turn).
Install toothed belt.
Install poly V-belt.
Fill in coolant see relevant chapter.
After a test drive, check the coolant pump for leaks.
