Note: With a 1.2-/1.4L displacement petrol engine other than the FSI engine, no temperature checks can be performed. You can only check whether the thermocouple pin extends when heated.
Remove thermostat, see relevant chapter above.
Measure and record the dimension -a- of the thermostat, see figure SX-1802.
Heat the thermostat in a bath of water. In this case, the thermostat should not touch the walls of the bath.
Control the temperature with a thermometer.
Engine 1.4-I-PD-TDI:
- the beginning of the opening of about the thermostat valve: about +85°C;
- the end of the opening of approximately the thermostat valve: approximately +105°C;
1.9L SDI engine:
- beginning of thermostat valve opening: approx. +86°С;
- end of opening thermostat valve data: not available.
After heating the thermostat to a temperature of approx. +100°C, dimension -b- must be approx. 7 mm larger than dimension -a-. The total travel of the thermostatic valve must be at least 7 mm.
Install thermostat, see relevant chapter above.
