Depending on the model and equipment, VW POLO/SEAT IBIZA vehicles are equipped with wheels of different sizes. If tires and/or rims are installed that are not specified in the vehicle documents, a corresponding entry must be made in the documents. As a rule, permission from the vehicle manufacturer is required for this.

Along with the width and diameter of the rim, the depth of its fitting is also of great importance when replacing. The depth of the fitting is the size from the middle of the rim to the surface where the rim is adjacent to the brake disc or, respectively, to the brake drum.

All disc wheels are made with a hump. A hump is a projection pressed onto the rim shelf, which prevents the tubeless tire from coming off the rim even during extremely sharp turns of the car.

Caution: Do not insert any tubes into tubeless tires.

Measuring the profile height of the tread pattern

Measuring the profile height of the tread pattern

[The original can be viewed on the portal: www.VWManual.ru]

The law requires that the permissible tread pattern profile height when tires are worn is at least 1.6 mm. However, for safety reasons, it is recommended to replace summer tires at a profile height of 2 mm and winter tires at a profile height of 4 mm. The profile height of the pattern should be measured in the main profile grooves in the most worn areas of the tire. The main profile grooves of original tires are determined by the wear indicators (TWI). The location of the indicators is marked on the sidewall of the tire in several places at the base of the tread with the letters TWI or a triangle symbol. The wear indicator area is located at a height of 1.6 mm. Wear indicators should not be used for measurement. The determining factor for the profile height is the size "P" in the place of the lowest groove profile.
