It is very important to maintain the prescribed inflation pressure in the tires. The prescribed tire inflation pressure is indicated on a sticker on the inside of the fuel filler cap. Inflation pressure is of great importance for both tire life and vehicle safety. Therefore, tire inflation pressure (including spare wheel) should be checked every 4 weeks and also before any long trip.
The pressure data refer to cold tires. Higher overpressure established during long journeys (by about 0.2-0.4 bar) no need to downgrade. Tires with winter tread patterns generally have 0.2 bar more pressure than summer tires. In any case, the inflation pressure of winter tires must comply with the prescribed values, which are regulated by their manufacturers. Since tires with winter tread patterns have a maximum speed limit, the speed limit must be observed in the driver's field of vision (§ 36, paragraph 1 of the Technical requirements for the operation of road transport - StVZO).
When operating a vehicle with a trailer, the tire inflation pressure should be increased to the values specified in the table in the column «Full load». It is also necessary to control the inflation pressure of the trailer tires.
The spare tire inflation pressure corresponds to the highest inflation pressure when fully loaded.
1) For vehicles without power steering.
