Removal

Note: To remove a front seat equipped with a side airbag, the VAS 5094 adapter from the VW Group is required.

To prevent the side airbag from deploying, with the ignition off, first disconnect the ground (-) cable from the battery and then the positive cable N. Cover the negative terminal of the battery with insulating tape. Follow the instructions in Chapter "Removal and installation the battery".

Move the front seat forward as far as it will go and unscrew the 2 bolts "1" at the rear.

Move the front seat all the way back and unscrew the 2 bolts "2" in front.

Caution: Before disconnecting the airbag unit connector, discharge any static electricity by briefly grasping the door locking wedge or the body. The airbag adapter must remain connected until the seat is reinstalled. Always follow the instructions safety regulations when handling an inflatable pillow.

Disconnect the "4" connector of the seat belt reminder under the seat.

Disconnect the plug connector "5" of the side airbag under the seat and connect the adapter "7" to the side airbag connector.

Note: The adapter provides additional protection against electrostatic charges.

If equipped, disconnect plug connector "6" of the seat heating system.

Remove the front seat together with the guide rails by moving it upwards.

Installation

Installation is performed in reverse order, first screwing in the rear inner bolt, then both front bolts, and finally the rear outer bolt.

Tighten the front seat mounting bolts to 24 Nm.

Caution: There should be no people in the vehicle when connecting the battery.

Remove the insulating tape from the negative battery terminal. With the ignition off, connect the positive (+) wire to the battery first, then the ground (-) wire.

Attention: Follow the instructions in the chapter "Removal and installation the battery".

If the airbag indicator on the instrument panel does not go out after the ignition is turned on, the airbag system is faulty. In this case, you need to contact a service station.

Only IBIZA

Removing and installing the front seat on the IBIZA is, in principle, done in the same way as on the POLO.

Note: To remove a front seat equipped with a side airbag, the VAS 5232 adapter from the VW Group is required.
