Adjusting the tailgate (VW Transporter T4)

1. The door needs to be adjusted if it does not fit correctly in the body, or after installing a new one.

2. The adjustment is made by loosening the hinge mounting screws and sliding the door. The hinges have larger hole diameters than the mounting screw diameters, the hinge can be moved.

3. To adjust the size of the grooves, loosen the cross-shaped screws of the hinges on the body without unscrewing them. To be able to get to the screws, remove the door seal and the trim on the longitudinal bar of the cover.

4. Adjust the size of the grooves by sliding the trunk door.

5. At the bottom of the door, it is necessary to adjust the locking wedge (body lock part). To do this, loosen the locking wedge so much that it can be moved with force. A 6 mm Allen key is required to loosen the screws. Close the trunk lid and adjust. Then carefully open the door and tighten the locking wedge with two screws to 20 N·m.

6. For better control of movement, outline the stop wedge with a felt-tip pen.

7. Press in the door rubber and trim.
