To check, you need a CO measuring device and a RPM measuring device.

Verification conditions

Oil temperature not less than 60°C.

The exhaust system has been checked for leaks.

The lambda probe functionality has been checked.

Examination

Connect the device for measuring the number of revolutions. Connect the device for measuring the CO content to the CO measuring tube in the engine compartment.

Caution: To avoid measurement errors, ensure that the hose is absolutely tightly connected to the CO measurement tube.

Leave the engine running at 2500±200 rpm for approximately 1 minute.

(The article is posted on this website VWMANUAL.ru)

Measure and record the CO content at 2500±200 rpm.

Insert the CO measuring device PROBE into the exhaust pipe.

Measure and record the CO content at 2500±200 rpm. The catalyst efficiency is determined by calculations using the following formula:

(Measured value before catalyst x 100%) / (Measured value after catalyst) = Efficiency in %

If the efficiency obtained is less than 50%, the catalyst should be replaced.
