Dismantling
Loosen the wheel bolts, raise the front of the car, remove the wheel.
On the head of the tie rod pull out the cotter pin, unscrew the nut with radial holes.
(40-646) press the rod head with a special puller, remove the bellows clamp on the steering gear, squeeze out the bellows
(48-331) Unlock the linkage from the steering gear and unscrew it.
Installation
Attention! When replacing tie rods, be sure to renew the bellows to ensure a perfect seal against moisture.
Set the length of the new rod equal to the length of the old one by unscrewing or screwing in the rod head.
Lubricate the gear rack with steering gear grease, put the bellows on the steering gear and lock it with a wire or clamp.
(48-332) after screwing, lock the linkage on the steering gear.
Install the rod head, screw on the nut and tighten it with a torque of 30 Nm. If the cotter pin does not fit into the hole, tighten the nut further.
Install the pin and bend it.
Screw on the wheel, lower the vehicle, tighten the wheel bolts to a torque of 180 Nm.
