Before opening the hood, make sure that the wiper arms are pressed against the windshield, otherwise the paintwork may be damaged.
Pull the engine compartment hood release handle under the front panel in the direction of the arrow - the hood will rise slightly under the action of the spring.
Raise the hood by the handle (pic. 1.52) and raise the hood further until the gas cylinders-stops begin to hold it in the open position.
WARNING: Hot coolant can cause burns. Never open the hood if you notice the appearance of steam or coolant - this is dangerous. Wait until steam or coolant stops flowing out before carefully opening the hood.
Closing the hood
Pull the hood down until the resistance force of the gas cylinders is overcome.
Let the hood fall freely into the latch - do not press.
If you cannot close the hood securely, lift it up again and try closing it again.
WARNING: When closing the hood, always check that it is securely locked. The hood must be firmly attached to adjacent body parts.
WARNING: If you notice while driving that the hood is loose, stop immediately and close it - otherwise there is a risk of an accident.
