Clutch basket bolts — 1979 and 1983 modification (VW Lt 28)

19. On early models, the clutch basket bolts were installed with spring washers under the head (m8 x 20 bolts).

20. Since December 1979, shorter bolts have been used, which are installed without washers (m8 x 15 bolts).

21. When using long bolts on any type of clutch, they must be installed with washers.

22. Do not use both long and short bolts on the same clutch.

23. Tighten the bolts in a diagonal sequence to the specified torque.

24. Since 1983, the clutch cable has had an adjusting sleeve at the end on the clutch pedal side.

25. The clutch pedal free play is adjusted to the same value as on earlier models (see Specifications for Chapter 5), but with the help of an adjusting sleeve at the pedal.
