Front wheel bearing seals — modification since july 1980 (VW Lt 28)

17. From about July 1980, the front wheel bearings began to be equipped with a new type of oil seal.

18. The new oil seal has a dust-proof lip that faces away from the sealing lip and significantly improves the sealing effect.

19. The new seal can be installed on older models, however, in the case of LT 28, 31 and 35 models, it cannot be used on models that do not have a replaceable ring (see figure 13.88).

20. When installing a new type of oil seal, fill the gap between the dust-proof and sealing lips with universal grease.
