Description of the braking system (VW Lt 28)

The braking system is a four-band type, with discs installed at the front and drums at the rear.

A double hydraulic circuit is installed. A pressure regulating valve is built in to limit the pressure on the rear brakes under strong and abrupt braking, and to match the load to prevent the brakes from locking on the rear wheels.

A vacuum brake booster is installed, mounted inside the driver's cabin, which includes the main hydraulic cylinder.

The front brake discs have a self-adjusting mechanism, as do the rear brake drums. The rear brake adjusters can be accessed through holes in the rear brake plate.

The handbrake operates mechanically on the rear wheels via cables. The brake system components vary slightly depending on the model. If these differences need to be taken into account during disassembly, this is indicated in the relevant Sections.
