Disassembling the drive shaft (VW Caddy 3)

Clamp the drive shaft between the protective jaws in a vice.

Unscrew the corrugated cover.

Caution! The mandrel must be installed precisely on the CV joint sprocket.

Using the mandrel (A), remove the CV joint from the drive shaft.



Pull off (press out) outer CV joint VL100.

Using a punch, remove the boot from the joint.

For shafts with VL107 CV joint: use a drift to remove the cover from the joint.

Removal the inner hinge cover

Continuation of the description of work for drive shafts with any type of CV joints:

• Remove the retaining ring.
• Remove both clamps and move the boot towards the outer CV joint.
