Rear suspension repair (VW Caddy 3)

Attention!
  • Welding or straightening of load-bearing or guide elements of the suspension is not permitted.
  • Self-locking nuts must be replaced.
  • Corroded bolts/removed nuts should always be replaced.


Caution! Rubber-metal hinges (silent blocks) have a limited working range of twisting. Therefore, their fasteners must be tightened at the suspension position that is achieved at the vehicle's curb weight (i.e. when the wheel bearing housing is raised on a lift).

1. Silent block.
2. Bolt: Replace after each removal.
3. Bolt: Replace after each removal,
4. The outer part of the left earring.
5. Leaf spring.
6. Rear beam.
7. Shield.
8. Trunnion.
9. Bolt: Replace after each removal.
10. Wheel hub with bearing (bearing unit):
- the bearing unit does not require adjustment or maintenance. Adjustment and repair are not possible;
- the driving rotor for the ABS sensor is built into the bearing unit.
11. Hub mounting screw:
- when loosening and tightening the bolts, the car should not stand on its wheels;
- replace after each removal.
12. Protective cap:
- replace after each removal.
Proper sealing is only possible by installing a new protective cap.

18. Stabilizer link.
17. Stabilizer.
18. Rubber bushing.
