Replacing headlight bulbs IBIZA (VW Polo 4)

Important: Follow the instructions given in the chapter for the POLO vehicle.


Note: Depending on the vehicle model, the headlight must be removed to replace the bulbs, see the relevant chapter.


Safety instructions when working with headlights equipped with xenon lamps:

When replacing the bulbs in a headlight with xenon bulbs, exercise caution. Risk of injury from high voltage! In any case, switch off the headlights and disconnect the battery. Then briefly switch the headlights on and off again with the switch to discharge the residual voltage. For safety reasons, wear shoes with rubber soles.


Turn off the ignition and turn off the headlight using the switch.

Open the engine compartment hood.

With the ignition off, disconnect the ground (-) cable from the battery.

Attention: Follow the instructions given in the chapter "Removal and installation the battery".


After installation, check the operation of the new incandescent lamp. If necessary, check the headlight adjustment at the service station and, if necessary, adjust the headlights.

Low beam (halogen lamps)/ high beam



Removal



At the back of the headlight, press both wire clips outward and remove the large cover.

At the back of the headlight, press both wire clips outward and remove the large cover.


Disconnect the plug from the incandescent lamp. 1 - incandescent lamp for low beam; 2 - incandescent lamp for high beam.



Press the wire clamp forward and inward at the same time to release.

Fold back the wire clamp and remove the incandescent lamp from the reflector.

Installation



Insert the new incandescent lamp so that the retaining tabs fit into the corresponding recesses.

Fold the wire clamp back and hook it in place.

Connect the plug to the new incandescent lamp.

Place the cover on the back of the headlight and secure it with wire clips.

Parking lights



Removal



From the back of the headlight, press the wire clip to the side and remove the small cover.

From the back of the headlight, press the wire clip to the side and remove the small cover.


Remove cartridge "1" together with the incandescent lamp from the reflector by the plug.

Remove the incandescent light bulb from the socket.

Installation



Installation is carried out in reverse order.

Front turn signal light



Removal



From the back of the headlight, press the wire clip to the side and remove the small cover.

Turn cartridge "2" together with the incandescent lamp counterclockwise and remove from the reflector, see Figure V-5638.

Press the incandescent lamp inward, turn it counterclockwise and remove it from the socket.

Installation



Insert a new lamp into the socket, insert the socket with the lamp into the reflector and turn clockwise until the socket locks into place.

Place the cover on the back of the headlight and secure it with a wire clip.
