Removal
Raise the rear of the vehicle.
Disconnect the ground wire from the battery.
Release the wiring harness clamp on the traction relay.
Disconnect the electrical wires from the traction relay.
Loosen the starter mounting bolts and remove the starter.
Installation
Insert and secure the starter.
Connect the electrical wires from the generator and the wire of terminal 50 of the ignition switch to the traction relay and install the wiring harness clamp (1).
The wire from the battery to the starter must be secured to the crossbar with a cable clamp (No. 171 971847, pink).
Additionally, secure the wire from the battery to the starter on the warm air hose with a cable clamp "1" on vehicles with a manual transmission and "2" on vehicles with an automatic transmission.
Connect the ground wire to the battery.
