Switch off the ignition and all electrical consumers.
If available, remove the protective film from the corks of the cans.
Unscrew the stoppers of the jars.
With help «pears» hydrometer, remove enough electrolyte from the jar to float the float (pic. 7.3).
Electrolyte density, g/cm3 | Charge degree, % | Voltage, V |
1,28 | 100 | 12,7 |
1.21 | 60 | 12,3 |
1,18 | 40 | 12,1 |
1,10 | 0 | 11,7 |
The density of the electrolyte is determined by the depth of immersion of the hydrometer in the electrolyte. The density value can be determined on the hydrometer scale.
NOTE: Checking the electrolyte density immediately after topping up with distilled water will result in incorrect measurement readings. Check the density of the electrolyte only after the battery is charged.
NOTE: Check plugs and O-rings for damage. Replace damaged parts. Close the jars with corks.
