Cleaning the paper air filter element (VW Beetle)

The paper air filter element should be cleaned (blown out) every 15,000 km and replaced with a new one every 30,000 km. If it is heavily soiled, the element should be replaced more frequently.

The oil in the inertial-oil air filter must be changed every 30,000 km, and more often if it is heavily contaminated.

To remove the paper filter element, separate the upper part of the air filter, after loosening the clamp at the bottom.

Caution! Always remove the top part of the filter with the opening facing down. It must not be cleaned with gasoline or similar substances. Contamination should be removed with a rag.

Thoroughly clean the bottom of the filter and fill to the marked level with SAE 30 engine oil (in arctic regions - SAE 10W).
