Measure the thickness of the brake disc. In workshops, a special template is used for this, since a ridge forms when the brake disc wears out. The thickness of the disc can also be determined with a regular sliding gauge, but in this case, a 3 mm thick gasket must be placed on each side of the disc. To have an accurate disc thickness, you need to subtract 6 mm of the thickness of the gaskets from the readings.
The thickness of a new brake disc is 13 mm. If there are scratches, the disc can be ground in a workshop on each side by a maximum of 0.5 mm. The minimum thickness of the disc after grinding should be 12 mm.
If the wear limit of 11 mm is reached, the disc must be replaced. At the same time, new pads must be installed.
Attention! It is necessary to grind or replace both discs.
