Checking the work
Disconnect the coolant temperature sensor plug connector at the upper coolant connection pipe.
Note: Disconnecting the plug connector simulates a cold engine condition, which causes the preheating process to begin when the ignition is turned on.
Disconnect the glow plug connectors.
Connect a multimeter between the glow plug connector and the engine ground to measure voltage.
Turn on the ignition and check the voltage. The prescribed value is approximately the battery voltage.
If the specified value is not achieved: eliminate the wire break or short circuit.
Checking glow plugs
Test condition: battery voltage must be at least 11.5 volts.
Turn off the ignition.
Disconnect the glow plug connectors.
Connect a semiconductor diode test lamp to the positive pole (+) of the battery and connect it in series to each glow plug.
- If the LED lights up, the glow plug is OK.
- If the LED does not light, the glow plug should be replaced.
Connect the plug connectors of all glow plugs and erase the contents of the fault code memory (at a service station).
