            0

Cause
Method of elimination
Too much free travel of the brake pedal
One brake circuit failed
Check the tightness of the brake circuits
The brake pedal is pressed far and springy
Air in the brake system
Bleed the brake system
Too little brake fluid in the expansion tank
Add new brake fluid, bleed air
Blisters most often form as a result of heavy loads, such as when descending in the mountains
Replace brake fluid, bleed air
The braking effect is reduced, the brake pedal is pressed all the way
The pipeline is leaky
Tighten the pipe connections or replace the pipe
The cuff of the main or brake cylinder of the wheel is damaged
Replace the cuff, replace the internal parts of the master brake cylinder, if necessary, replace the master brake cylinder
Disc brake specific: stationary rubber sealing ring is damaged
Overhaul the brake mechanism
Poor braking effect despite strong pressure on the brake pedal
The brake linings are oily
Replace brake pads
Incorrect or hardened brake pads
Replace brake pads, install brake pads VW
The brake booster is faulty
Check the brake booster
Especially for disc brakes: brake pads are worn out
Replace brake pads
When braking, the car pulls to the side
The tire pressure is not normal
Check and adjust tire pressure
The tires are worn unevenly
Replace worn tires
The brake linings are oily
Replace brake pads
Different types of brake pads on one axle
Replace brake pads. Install brake pads VW
Poor contact patch of brake pads
Replace brake pads
Especially for disc brakes: brake shafts are dirty (saddles or frames)
Clean the mounting locations and guide surfaces in the brake mechanism
Corrosion in brake cylinders
Replace brake mechanisms
Uneven wear of brake linings
Replace brake pads (on both wheels)
Especially for drum brakes: heavy piston stroke in the brake cylinder
Restore the brake cylinder
The brake works by itself
The compensation hole of the master brake cylinder is clogged
Clean the master brake cylinder, replace the internal parts at the service station
The clearance between the working rod and the piston of the master brake cylinder is too small
Check the gap
Brakes get hot while driving
The compensation hole of the master brake cylinder is clogged
Clean the master brake cylinder, replace internal parts at the service station
The clearance between the working rod and the piston of the master brake cylinder is too small
Check the gap
Especially for disc brakes: the throttle hole of the special support valve is clogged
Clean the master cylinder, replace the internal parts and change the brake fluid
Especially for drum brakes: brake shoe return springs are weak
Replace return springs
The brakes are rattling
Brake pads do not comply with the above
Replace brake pads, install brake pads VW
Especially for disc brakes: disc brakes are corroded in places
Carefully level the disc with a grinding stone
Lateral Brake Disc Fight
Improve or replace the brake disc
Especially for drum brake: brake linings are worn out
Replace brake pads, install brake pads VW
The brake drum is not round
Turn and replace the brake drum if necessary
The brake pads do not come off the brake disc, the wheels rotate with difficulty by hand
Especially for disc brakes: corrosion in brake cylinders
Overhaul the brake mechanism, replace
Uneven wear of brake linings
Especially for disc brakes: brake pads do not meet the above
Replace brake pads, install brake pads VW
The brake mechanism is dirty
Clean the brake surfaces
The pistons are moving with difficulty
Restore ease of movement of pistons
The brake system is leaking
Check the tightness of the brake system
Conical wear of brake linings
Especially for disc brake: the brake disc does not rotate parallel to the brake mechanism
Check the mating surface of the brake mechanism
Corrosion in the brake mechanism
Remove pollution
The pistons are not working well
Check piston adjustment (piston ring)
The brakes are squeaking
Environmental influence (air humidity)
No need to eliminate (if the creaking appears after the car has been standing for a long time in high humidity, but then disappears after the first braking)
Specially for disc brake: brake pads do not match
Replace brake pads, install brake pads VW
The brake disc is not parallel to the brake mechanism
Check the mating surface of the brake mechanism
The shafts in the brake mechanism are dirty
Clean the brake shafts
The brake shoe retaining springs are bent
Replace the retaining springs
The spacer springs are stretched
Pull out the spacer springs
Especially for drum brakes: brake linings do not fit tightly
Replace brake pads
The brakes are dirty
Clean the brakes
The return springs are too weak
Replace return springs
The brakes are pulsating
ABS is working
No need to eliminate
Especially for disc brake:
lateral impact or too large tolerance of brake disc thickness
Check the fight and tolerance, bring the disk up to standard or replace it
The brake disc is not parallel to the brake mechanism
Check the contact surface of the thermocouple mechanism
Especially for drum brake: the contact surface of the disc to the brake drum is uneven, the brake drum is bent
Try swapping the disks between each other; it is better to turn the brake drum together with the wheel screwed to it on a lathe
