General information (VW Polo 4)

The load-bearing element of the front axle is a beam bolted to the body. Both transverse levers are attached to the front axle beam, and their other ends are attached to the steering knuckles. The transverse levers are connected to the shock absorber struts via the steering knuckles. The front wheels are driven by two cardan shafts.

Optimum dynamic properties and minimal tyre wear are only achieved with perfect wheel alignment. In case of abnormal tyre wear and unsatisfactory driving stability, you should contact a service station to have the chassis parameters measured optically. It is impossible to perform such measurements without the appropriate measuring equipment. The adjustment value of the total toe-in of the front axle for the POLO/IBIZA is 0° ±10'.

Safety instructions

Welding and straightening work on the bearing and guide parts of the front wheel suspensions is not allowed. Self-locking nuts, as well as rusty bolts and nuts, must be replaced in case of repair.
