Connecting the VAG 1551 fault code reader (VW Polo 3)

1. Open the glove compartment lid on the driver's side and connect the VAG 1551 fault code reader using the VAG 1551/3 cable (Fig. 5.44).



2. After connecting the fault code reader, depending on the selected function, turn on the ignition or start the engine.

3. Press "1" to select the "Data Transfer" function. Press "01" to select "Engine Electronics" and confirm with the "Q" button. The display should show the following information:


6K0907311B - Engine control unit number
1.61 - Displacement R4 - Engine type (four cylinders in a row)
MONO 1.2.3 - Version and designation of the injection system
DGC - Software Level Number
Code 01 - Code Variant

5. Press "→". The display should show the following information:
