Voltage measurement
Voltage can be determined with a simple test lamp or voltage indicator. In this case, only the presence of voltage is recognized. In order to measure its value, you need to connect a voltmeter.
The measuring instrument cables must be connected in parallel to the consumer. In this case, the red cable of the measuring device is connected to the cable going to the positive pole of the battery, the black cable to the negative wire or "mass" machine, for example, to the engine.
Measurement example: if the engine does not start well, because the starter turns too slowly, then it is advisable to check the voltage of the battery while the starter is running. To do this, connect the red cable () voltmeter to the positive pole of the battery, and the black cable (-) to the weight of the car. Then, with assistance, turn on the starter and measure the voltage. If the voltage is below 10V (at battery temperature 20°C), you need to check the battery or charge it.
