Battery Discharge Prevention
If the batteries are heavily loaded, the onboard power supply control unit automatically prevents the batteries from being discharged:
- the idle speed is increased to increase the generator current;
- if this is not enough, then those current consumers that provide comfort (e.g. electrical heating), are current limited or turned off altogether to prevent battery discharge.
If there are problems with starting the engine due to a discharged battery, then this indicates a malfunction. In this case, we recommend having the battery checked by a Volkswagen workshop and charged or replaced if necessary.
Despite the automatic control of the onboard power supply, the battery can be discharged, for example, when the ignition is switched on for a long time with the engine not running or when the car is parked for a long time with the parking or parking lights on.
Battery replacement
Batteries are designed specifically for specific installation locations and are equipped with devices that ensure their safe use.
Volkswagen original batteries meet all the requirements for driving a car.
