Attention! A defective hydraulic compensator must be replaced as a whole. It is beyond repair. Irregular valve knocking when starting the engine is normal.
1. Start the engine and let it run until the cooling fan turns on once.
2. Increase the speed to 2500 rpm for about two minutes.
3. If after this the hydraulic pumps are still making noise, check them in the following sequence:
- remove the cylinder head cover;
- scroll your crankshaft so that the cam of the hydraulic compensator being checked is set up;
- determine the gap between the hydraulic compensator and the cam;
- press the hydraulic lifter with a wooden or plastic wedge (pic. 5.28). If, when the hydraulic compensator is pressed, the gap between it and the cam is more than 0.20 mm. it needs to be replaced.
