Removing
1. Remove the ribbed belt.
2. If installed, remove the ribbed belt tensioner.
3. Remove the crankshaft pulley/damper, coolant pump pulley, and upper and lower timing belt guard.
4 Mark the direction of movement of the timing belt, move the tension roller to the side and remove the timing belt.
Installation
Attention! When turning the camshaft, the TDC marks on the crankshaft must not be aligned. There is a possibility of damage to valves and pistons.
A - If the toothed belt has been removed completely
5. Align the mark on the camshaft pulley with the mark on the guard (pic. 5.3).
6. Install the timing belt on the camshaft pulley and on the countershaft pulley (in the direction of travel).
On AFT engine
Attention! The marks on the intermediate shaft pulley do not matter.
7. Install the lower part of the timing belt guard.
8. Install crankshaft pulley/damper.
9. Align the TDC marks on the crankshaft pulley.
10. Engine installed: align the TDC marks on the first cylinder on the flywheel (pic. 5.4).
11. Engine removed: align the TDC marks on the #1 cylinder on the crankshaft pulley/damper (pic. 5.5).
12. Rotate the countershaft pulley with toothed belt in the direction of travel until the rotor arm is aligned with the #1 cylinder mark on the distributor housing (above the crankshaft pulley) (pic. 5.6).
13. Establish a gear belt on a tension roller and a camshaft pulley.
Attention! To facilitate installation of the toothed belt, loosen the idler lock nut one turn.
14. Align the TDC marks on the distributor housing (pic. 5.7).
On engines 1F, ADZ
15. Install crankshaft pulley/damper with one bolt (without fixation).
16. Align the TDC marks on the crankshaft pulley/damper with the mark on the countershaft pulley (pic. 5.8).
17. Install the toothed belt on the camshaft pulley.
For all engines
18. Tension the timing belt by moving the tension roller with the wrench in the direction of the arrow (pic. 5.9).
19. Tighten the lock nut on the tension roller to 45 Nm.
20. Scroll the crankshaft two turns and check the adjustment.
On AFT engine
21. Check the alignment of the marks on the distributor housing and the rotor.
On engines 1F, ADZ
22. Remove the crankshaft pulley/damper.
23. Install the lower part of the timing belt guard.
24. Install the coolant pump pulley, crankshaft pulley/damper, and top of the timing belt guard.
For all engines
25. Install the ribbed belt tensioner. Tightening torque: 20 Nm.
26. Install the ribbed belt.
On engines 1F, ADZ
27. Check and, if necessary, adjust the valve timing.
B - If the toothed belt was removed only from the camshaft pulley
28. Align the mark on the camshaft pulley with the mark on the guard (pic. 5.3).
29. Align the TDC marks on the crankshaft pulley.
30. Install the timing belt on the pulley and tighten.
31. Check the alignment of the marks on the rotor and the distributor housing (pic. 5.10). If they are not aligned, turn the dispenser until the marks are aligned. If necessary, reinstall the distributor.
32. Scroll the crankshaft two turns and check the alignment of the marks on the crankshaft and camshaft.
33. Check and, if necessary, adjust the valve timing.
