AHU engine
1. Disconnect the vacuum tube from the EGR valve.
2. Connect the hand pump VAG 1390 to the valve.
3. Pump (pic. 6.66). The diaphragm rod must move to the vacuum connection (look through the hole (arrow).
4. Disconnect the hand pump VAG 1390 from the valve. The valve must close (the membrane should move towards the exhaust manifold).
AFN, ALE engines
5. Remove the engine cover.
6. Disconnect the connecting tube between the intercooler radiator and the connecting flange.
7. Disconnect the vacuum tube from the EGR valve.
8. Attach the VAG 1390 hand pump to the valve.
9. Operate the pump and observe the movement of the diaphragm rod (pic. 6.67). It should move in the direction of the arrow.
10. Disconnect the hand pump VAG 1390 from the valve. The stem should return to its original position.
